Mitch Morrison serves as a certified Five Capitals coach specialized in leadership transformation, safety culture, applied teamwork, and learner discipleship. After logging 6,800 flying hours and serving as a military aviator and leader for over 30 years, Mitch retired from the Coast Guard at the rank of Captain, after his final tour of duty serving as the Coast Guard’s Deputy Director of Health, Safety, Work-Life and Chief of Aviation Safety.
He transitioned to higher education and serves as a Christian university administrator and Associate Professor. Mr. Morrison also serves with a non-profit board supporting flying safety for Christain missionary organizations. Dr. Morrison has a Ph.D. in Business Administration, graduate/undergraduate degrees in Aeronautics, and is a FAA-certified flight instructor and Airline Transport Pilot. As a researcher, he has presented at conferences on the topics of error recognition, interdisciplinary learning, and safety leadership/culture.
Mitch’s coaching interests and passion center around helping others discover their identity and connecting thoughts and ideas for value and impact. Dr. Morrison invites opportunities on a schedule-permitting basis to assist individuals who desire to grow as learners and leaders and organizations seeking to transform their safety culture.
Mitch and his wife, Elizabeth live in Forest, VA and have been married for 28 years. The Morrisons have four children.
